National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
As a Royal Life Saving Society Approved Training Centre Leisure at Cheltenham is able to offer the industry ‘gold standard’ National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). The qualification is Ofqual regulated and universally recognised by employers, both nationally and internationally.
This year we will be offering several Integrated NPLQ and Emergency First Aid At Work (EFAW) courses. All our first aid certificated courses are Health and Safety Executive (HSE) accredited, and will provide two much sought after work-based qualifications in one: they represent excellent value for money and typically run over five consecutive days: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
Our next Integrated NPLQ/EFAW course runs during the February half-term: Monday 18th to Friday 22nd February with qualifying assessment on the Friday afternoon.
The course costs £240 which includes 36 hours of training, all course materials and final assessment for both qualifications.
The course covers the role of the lifeguard; swimming pool supervision; rescue and emergency action plans; cardiopulmonary resuscitation, AED and first aid, pool rescues and first aid.
Places are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The NPLQ qualification is valid for two years and can be renewed; the EFAW is valid for three years – so whether you’re just looking for casual hours to fit in around studies, or planning a Camp America adventure in 2019 (NPLQ holders are deemed to have ‘advanced skills’ and are in really high demand) – this is the course for you.
There is an opportunity to apply to join our friendly lifeguarding team after completion: full-time, part-time and casual hours are often available.
